Cereal Home London

Aucoot teamed up with Cereal Magazine to design this extraordinary home in London. This loft with concrete flooring and mineral wall paint is light flooded and filled with carefully selected design pieces. While I love every single little corner of this well-curated home, the bedroom is definitly my favorite room. I love the dark blue walls combined with the floating wooden bed and the black wall lamps. Original Source Coco Lapine Design

The old Akurum. It’s brilliant for a Loft Bed with Den!

Upgrading your old kitchen? Don’t throw the IKEA AKURUM kitchen cabinets away just yet. They can be turned into an ingenious loft bed with den and plenty of underloft storage. Ada repurposes the 15″ AKURUM cabinets into stairs and the 24″ ones into storage. The old closet is stripped away and the loft bed built into the nook, taking advantage of the room’s height and maximizing storage space. It turned out nothing less than impressive. Can’t find the AKURUM? This hack can be done with the IKEA SEKTION kitchen cabinets too. Elevated (loft) bed with wardrobe and a “secret room” beneath. Closet/wardrobe under the bed. AKURUM Cabinets with shelves and drawers. (4 x 24″ base cabinets) Standard cabinet drawers under each step. Comfortable bed entry with alternating steps (cut from four 15″ cabinet frames) Long landing for easy access to bed (covered with cut-to-size 15″ high cabinet doors) Full size mattress on LUROY slats (the only full size IKEA slats not requiring a central beam

Newly build home with great style

The staircase is the real eye catcher in this newly build home and I like that you can look downstairs from the bedroom. The interior is decorated with lots of fabric to add softness to this new place and I like the dining table and the large blue sofa especially. DIY Raised Bed Liner for Askholmen Planter

Now that we’re in the thick of Spring, let’s dig into a bit of gardening. Simone shares her DIY raised bed liner idea for the ASKHOLMEN wooden flower box, converting it into a raised bed instead of a plant stand. The ASKHOLMEN is pre-treated with a layer of semi-transparent wood stain. But the elements can be merciless, so keep the wooden planter looking good with the VĂ…RDA wood stain. Other IKEA products you can use to grow plants are the ALGOT wire baskets. They make a pretty balcony height herb garden . The SAMLA boxes can be converted into a huge yet affordable planter . And of course, the FNISS trash bins. They make cheap and handy pots for the garden. IKEA items used: Askholmen Planter and Frakta bag The Askholmen planter is a great looking planter however can’t be used without using plant in pots inside. I wanted to fill the whole planter with soil and plant. The Frakta blue bag is an almost exact fit. Make a DIY raised bed liner in 5 easy steps Cut of the handles of

Beautifully styled home

I like the slight touches of color in this home decorated with otherwise neutral materials. The blue armchair really catches the eye in the hallway (the daybed there looks great as well) and the mustard throw in the bedroom stands out as well. I like the two dining areas in this home (what a luxury) which each have their own looks. via Entrance Makleri Original Source Coco Lapine Design

6 Ikea L shaped desks to boost productivity

If you’re always thinking of ways to up your productivity, you’ll want to rethink your most basic productivity hub – your desk – every once in a while. Your desk configuration may have worked but as time goes by, your requirements and style may change. And the desk that once serve you so well may need an upgrade. I’ve worked with a single desk for the longest time but am now seriously considering an L shaped desk. Reason being, I’ve recently (I know, late to the party) discovered the joys of a second monitor . With a laptop and  a monitor, my desk space is getting tight. The additional desk space will let me spread out all my notes and jottings and keep my main desk area solely for the machines. The goal: division of space for greater focus. Fortunately, an L shaped desk isn’t hard to find or hack. Here are 6 ways to fit one into your home office space, whether big or small. Get it straight, erm .. “L” from IKEA #1 BEKANT Pop it up from the box – the IKEA BEKANT  L shaped desk.

IKEA KALLAX Queen Storage Bed

I built this prior to knowing this website existed, this probably would have saved some contemplation. For difficulty reference, I am no carpenter (electrician actually) and I built it with my right hand in a cast. We bought an old house with original hardwood flooring from the 40s so we were very concerned about damaging it. The casters on a normal bed frame put a lot of pressure on a small surface and we didn’t want it dented or damaged if things started a rockin …. Plus, a 40′s house has virtually no storage as you only needed 3 pairs of pants back then. IKEA material : 3 x KALLAX shelf units (4) 4 x KALLAX drawer kits 8 x KALLAX fabric boxes Non-IKEA material : 4 x 2×4 A grade (saves time) 2 x 2×6 2 x sheets 1/2″ plywood (what ever grade you want) 25ft x iron-on edge trim 100 x 3″ #8 wood screws 20 x 1-1/4″ #8 wood screws satin white paint Tools (I used) : Tape measure Drill w/ 1/8″ bit for piloting holes Impact driver for screws Table saw Miter saw Ass

Beautiful dark bedroom

This small tone on tone dark grey bedroom looks just amazing. I like how the vintage dresser takes up all the attention and almost looks like it’s lit up. The baby bed with the fabric drapery is a nice solution as well and the high shelf gives the opportunity to store things and add every changing decoration. via Entrance Makleri Original Source Coco Lapine Design

Bamboo IKEA cutting board into Floating Nightstand

LluĂs trims the APTITLIG bamboo chopping board into an elegant floating nightstand . A minimalist shelf, without legs and barely visible brackets beneath. It is not meant to hold a lot of weight but it’s perfectly functional for your nightcap and next-to-bed essentials. Here’s how: 1. Using a table saw, cut a bevel edge for all 4 sides of the chopping board. 2. Sand the cut edges with an orbital sander and finish with fine grit sandpaper. 3. Next mark where you want the brackets to go. 4. Score the marked lines with a penknife. 5. Use a router to create grooves for the brackets. 6. Apply Cyanoacrylate glue (aka Superglue ) to the brackets and press them into the groove. Spray Cyanoacrylate Accelerator to speed up the adhesion. 5. Screw in the brackets. 6. Use one of the bevelled pieces cut from the APTITLIG to cover up the brackets. Cut it into the right length. 7. Attach the cover piece with glue. 8. Let dry and sand down the edges. 9. Wipe down with mineral oi
