Bathroom Renovations Atwell

Located in the southern suburbs of Perth, Atwell is a blend of new and newer homes. Most bathrooms in the area are only about 20 years old with a lot of Pastel and Italian style bathroom designs being present in the area. The older part will contain a lot of colored plastic fittings which has discolored over time. The bathrooms though are generally quite spacious. Now we have gone into way too much detail of the area lets tackle this bathroom renovation tackled by on the ball bathrooms.

How It Looked–

What We Did

Keeping with the same layout the clients wanted to really just modernise the space they had. Due to the large window, they were able to use darker fittings and tiles without closing the space in. The biggest change was the reduction of the bricked hob and the input of the island bath to really give it a luxury feel. We installed the vanity mixer into the wall for quite a modern trend of the combination wall mixer. It allows for easier cleaning around the vanity. The last really big change to this Atwell bathroom was the Shower Recess or Box which is all the rage at this stage.

What Bathroom Items Did We Use

On this bathroom, the clients picked Caroma bathroom fittings. These Caroma style bathroom fittings can be a little expensive on the price scale but are some of the best bathroom fittings you will get in Perth when doing your main bathroom renovation. The semi-frameless shower screen really finished off the clean look.

Bathrooms Atwell

Star of the Room

It’s a toss-up between the beautiful feature of the shower box or the island bath which I have never been the biggest fan of but in this bathroom renovation I feel it has been done really well.

Last Notes about the Bathroom

I love this bathroom. Its modern but takes a risk in its color. It’s what I call an easy risk the idea that when designing anything risk is needed to archive a wow feels. If you don’t risk it the bathroom look will always be the same. All they did was use the feature floor tile on one wall and it transformed the whole room. This style of the bathroom in Atwell is not out of place as the bathroom renovation suits the area and I really felt the clients nailed it on the head with their selections.

Mind the gap: Fit IKEA MALM over a tall baseboard

I forgot one thing when I ordered the MALM dresser : The baseboards in my apartment are very tall and very wide. So, when I installed it, I had a 4 cm gap between the wall and the back of the cabinet which was not aesthetically possible for me. As it is not possible to cut the back of dresser at the bottom to leave room for the tall baseboard, I decided that MALM should be raised. And it was much simpler than I had imagined. You’ll need: A MALM dresser (mine is a 6-drawer chest) Six oak bed legs (I think five would have been enough, but while I was there …) 6 mounting plates A piece of plywood the size of the bottom of the cabinet (I went to the hardware store next door, it cost me less than 5€) Screws White adhesive edging tape How to raise the MALM dresser above a tall baseboard Place the MALM upside down. Fix the plywood onto the underside of the MALM with screws. Predrill holes for the leg screws (if you have the same baseboard problem as me, make sure you measur...

IKEA KALLAX Queen Storage Bed

I built this prior to knowing this website existed, this probably would have saved some contemplation. For difficulty reference, I am no carpenter (electrician actually) and I built it with my right hand in a cast. We bought an old house with original hardwood flooring from the 40s so we were very concerned about damaging it. The casters on a normal bed frame put a lot of pressure on a small surface and we didn’t want it dented or damaged if things started a rockin …. Plus, a 40′s house has virtually no storage as you only needed 3 pairs of pants back then. IKEA material : 3 x KALLAX shelf units (4) 4 x KALLAX drawer kits 8 x KALLAX fabric boxes Non-IKEA material : 4 x 2×4 A grade (saves time) 2 x 2×6 2 x sheets 1/2″ plywood (what ever grade you want) 25ft x iron-on edge trim 100 x 3″ #8 wood screws 20 x 1-1/4″ #8 wood screws satin white paint Tools (I used) : Tape measure Drill w/ 1/8″ bit for piloting holes Impact driver for screws Table saw Miter saw Ass...
