Four-Level Home in Mallorca Overlooks Small Medieval Town

Kresings Architektur completed House N° 3, a renovation and extension of an old building overlooking the medieval small town of Pollença, in Mallorca, Spain. The project aimed to reflect the atmosphere and qualities of the region.

“When entering the building, one notices the comfortable temperature,” the architects said. “This is due to the ground floor having thick brick walls. The walls regulate the interior temperature throughout the year. Also, distinctively of the region, the floor plates are supported by olive-timber beams, which give the spaces their unique quality.”

The four-level residence comes with a total surface of 125 square meters (1,345 square feet) and has three en-suite bedrooms. Access to the upper floors is provided by a central stairway. The kitchen is located on the third level and communicates with the roof terrace, the highlight of the entire building.

“The existing beige tones and green shutters of the buildings in the neighborhood gave way to white for both interiors and façade,” the architects said. “Only two elements in the house have color, the main entrance door and the stair between the kitchen and the terrace. Mind the gap: Fit IKEA MALM over a tall baseboard

I forgot one thing when I ordered the MALM dresser : The baseboards in my apartment are very tall and very wide. So, when I installed it, I had a 4 cm gap between the wall and the back of the cabinet which was not aesthetically possible for me.
